I would change some events, like that grandfather gets better and helps little Willy work in the farm and pay the taxes. Another solution is that to send grandfather to the nursing home.
Searchlight would not collapse and dies. Searchlight and little Willy cross the finish line together and beat Stone Fox in the race.
Searchlight and little Willy would achieve their dream and win the race of their life.
